Hi friends, I’m writing to you with a sad update. I’ve decided that it’s time for me to take a step back from RTL. My work in the last couple of years has picked up to the point that I’m having to scale back on other things in my life in order to make sure I have time to get everything done. And one of those things is RTL.
RTL has been SUCH a positive focus in my life for many years now. Mia and I started it on a whim because we just wanted to talk about books to one another and with all of you. From running the podcast to moving to Substack, it has been just FUN. And getting to do it with my bestie? Even better!
(Please know that this decision is in no way a reflection of my relationship with Mia. In fact, every time I thought about leaving, one Zoom conversation with her had me convinced to stay because OMG HAVE YOU SEEN HER CUTE FACE?!)
But even the best things sometimes have to end, and my time at RTL is just one of them. I want to thank you so much for allowing me to share my bookish thoughts with you all - whether you’ve been here since we first launched, or are a newbie. Thank you for letting me push The Idea of You into your hands at every chance I got. Thank you for understanding that romance is just how I roll. I have loved getting to share my reading life with all of you.
And I’ve already asked Mia if I can pop back in here from time to time to share things with you. But in the meantime if you still want to connect with me, feel free to find me on my personal Substack where I’m writing once weekly (because that’s about all I can bring myself to do), and on my Instagram.
You’ll get another email tomorrow with some very exciting news about where RTL is going now and what Mia has up her sleeve for you all. You won’t want to miss it.
So for now I’ll just say, I’ll see you later. It’s not goodbye forever, but it’s goodbye for now. And I will miss you all so much. Thank you for being the best book nerd friends a gal could have.
xo, Sarah
A Note from Mia:
Sarah, you will be so missed around here, not only from me, but from our whole community. Thank you for every giggle, every pretend-argument about books we didn’t agree on, every weird conversation, every time you put up with my corny jokes, every podcast blooper because we couldn’t stop laughing, every wonderful memory. Thanks for being the best bookish friend and co-host all these years. I know this is only a goodbye from RTL and not from my life, but I just wanted to say I’m really proud of you for doing what’s best for you and your life and your family in this season. Love you always! -m
Sarah, I hope we can still chat books! Nonetheless I always support people doing what is best for themselves. I’m sure this was no easy decision.
Sarah is my book twin. RTL got me through some tough months and I’ll miss her dearly!
