Well, hello there, bookish friends. I was going to hit you with another post about spooky scary books, but I figured you’re probably getting enough of that lately. Instead, I thought I’d just share what I’ve been up to lately. It’s a chance to talk about something other than books for a bit (although, I’m still going to talk about books a little).
Here’s what I’m currently…
READING:
THE TWISTED ONES by T. Kingfisher
See? Here’s me immediately talking about books!
In this one, Melissa, aka Mouse, at the request of her ailing father, goes to clean out her late grandmother’s house to prepare it for sale. Mouse quickly learns that her grandmother was a hoarder, her grandfather kept a journal about… things that live in the woods, and hills somehow appear and disappear in the land behind the house.
I’m not done with this book yet, but I’m already loving it so far. T. Kingfisher really knows how to set a creepy scene and the buildup to whatever those “things” are is giving me goosebumps. I’m sure I’ll have a review for it in the weekly snapshot this Sunday, so stay tuned.
P.S. One of my all time favorite spooky books is THE HOLLOW PLACES by T. Kingfisher. Check out my review here.
LISTENING TO:
RED WEB PODCAST
Red Web dives into the Internet's most intriguing mysteries, conspiracies, and supernatural events. With an appetite for the unknown, Trevor Collins and his co-host Alfredo Diaz analyze various unsolved incidents.
Mysteries, conspiracies, and supernatural events are my catnip, and so is this podcast. I also really love the dynamic between Trevor and Alfredo. A few of my favorite episodes: Dyatlov Pass Incident, Skinwalker Ranch, and Mothman.
I’m also listening to this song below on repeat. It’s so catchy. Picture me riding around in my golf cart, bluetooth speaker turned up, this song blasting in the sunshine.
WATCHING:
YELLOWJACKETS on Showtime
A wildly talented girls high school soccer team becomes the unlucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the Canadian wilderness.
Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis, and Melanie Lynskey? Sign me up. The show takes place in dual timelines - one when the girls are in high school and surviving in the wilderness with a quickly dwindling food supply, and one when they are all adults and still feeling the impact of the crash from decades before. There are 2 seasons and I’m almost completely caught up and not sure what I will do until season 3 comes out!
EATING:
Vanilla Greek yogurt with honey almond granola and a handful of raspberries. All day, every day!
WEARING:
These workout tanks are my favorite. I love the colors, I love the fit, and I love the material.
And this dress that I bought for a friend’s wedding.
DOING:
We recently had to evacuate Florida for Hurricane Milton and we went to Georgia for a few days with our neighbors. I hated driving there (and back), but while we were there, we had some good times, safe from the weather.
I’ve also been working out a lot (hence the workout tanks I mentioned earlier) and trying to eat healthier. I had a health scare recently (I’m totally fine!) and it really made me think about my life’s priorities. I plan to write more about it soon on my personal Substack, so feel free to join if you’re interested.

That pretty much sums up what I’m currently doing. I hope you’ve enjoyed this brief glimpse into my life.
What have you been up to currently? Tell me in the comments so we can chat about it.
I love that song, too! I hope everything worked out okay with the hurricane--I am glad you went to Georgia for a bit, even though you hated the drive. Thanks for the update! Can't wait to hear more!
I love that song - it was on the lifeguard's playlist at the pool this summer, so I heard it quite a bit. But it doesn't get old!
