Sometimes books just aren’t for us. Maybe we’re not in the right headspace for them or it’s not the right time or season. Or it’s just not what lights up our reading hearts. And that’s OK.
Today, let’s talk about a book you started and then DNF’d. What was it? Why? Tell me in the details in the comments. I don’t DNF books often, but I’ll share one, too.
You Are Here by David Nicholls. It is one I may return to in a few months. I stopped because I wasn’t enjoying spending time with the characters anymore. I found myself dreading picking it up and I decided life is too short to read books you don’t enjoy.
I dnf’d Sociopath by Patric Gagne, I was listening to the audio and really couldn’t connect to her story, it felt very repetitive to me. Maybe it would’ve worked in print 🤷♀️
I rarely dnf and it’s something I’m working on! Too many books to get stuck behind one that’s not working
A Thousand Acres by Jane Smiley. Just could not get into her characters and while I know its a retelling of King Lear, the plot was very clunky. I gave up!
I DNF'd "Carjacked" by Selena Winters. It was during the summer when I was on my dark, toxic romance kick. But this was way, way, way too dark, even for me. Like in a violent, gross way. Nope.

"The Measure" by Nikki Erlick. Good story idea in theory but couldn't get on board with the writing.

I don't DNF books often, but one that comes to mind is We Need To Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver. It was too disturbing for me.
